1. Chioma Wellness Beauty and Spa

“Chioma” means to be in good spirits, and that is what this Black-owned spa in North Dallas guarantees for its clientele. The services at Chioma Wellness Beauty and Spa are inspired by traditional African herbs and self care practices. Owner Ebele Chioma strives to provide a mini getaway in the city — she calls it “Zanzibar in Dallas.” Apothecary — a favorite service with more than 100 Ayurvedic and Eastern herbs, powders, and foods — helps you glow on the inside so you can glow on the outside. Chioma also makes its own body lotions, face masks, and body scrubs, and can customize body blends and treatments to individual preference.

Sage Roots Healing Women’s Spa in Uptown specializes in reiki energy healing and massage therapy. Its crystal singing bowls and aromatherapy make this women-only spa stand apart from the rest. I booked one of its popular treatments — a 30-minute massage and 30-minute reiki session — and it was breathtaking. I highly recommend trying it out. The spa also offers reiki-certification classes for people interested in energy healing.
