You may have noticed friends or various bloggers spending the first month of this year doing a Whole 30. Whole 30 is a food program in which you spend 30 days removing sugar, alcohol, and processed foods from your diet. It’s not a diet, but it is meant to be a lifestyle change.
Whole 30 Basics
- Do not consume added sugar, real or artificial.
- Do not consume alcohol, in any form, not even for cooking.
- Do not eat grains.
- Do not eat legumes.
- Do not eat dairy.
- Do not consume carrageenan, MSG, or sulfites.
- Do not consume baked goods, junk foods, or treats, even with “approved” ingredients.
- Do not step on a scale or take body measurements for 30 days.
This is a tough 30 days. The most important thing to remember is that PREPARATION is key! When I’m doing a Whole 30, I meal prep every week. I never go a day without knowing what I’m going eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Here are a few of my go-to resources for a successful Whole 30.
Whole 30 Resources
Healthy Little Peach is a food blogger and Instagram influencer (@healthylittlepeach). She is insanely charming and has the best healthy takes on southern food. She’s also a mom and has great kid-friendly foods, as well. Her website has an entire 30 days of Whole 30 meal plan with recipes and shopping lists prepared for you FOR FREE. She also has a cookbook coming out soon! The Defined Dish is a food blogger, Instagram influencer (@thedefineddish), and recent cookbook author. Alex Snodgrass is from Dallas, and she is one of my favorite Instagram follows to see some great Whole 30 options when eating out around town. Her cookbook is full of weeknight dinners (both Whole 30 and not).
No Crumbs Left is another food blogger, Instagram influencer (@nocrumbsleft), and recent cookbook author. Teri makes the most incredible salads and marinated onions. She is a great person to follow if you have to entertain during your Whole 30!
Fortuitous Foodies has an excellent blog post about Eating Out in Dallas on Whole 30, full of places to get Whole 30-compliant meals around town. 30 days is a really long time to go without eating out!
