I’m one of those people who like to pride themselves, despite working full time and having a child, that I am able to stay up to date with all the cool kids and ongoing trends. My younger brother is in college and despite almost being a decade older than he is, I don’t feel totally clueless when he talks about Reddit or his girlfriend’s party nail. So when out of nowhere I started seeing all these women post about Thirty-One Gifts I was a bit confused.
First, I had never heard of it and how did they just all of a sudden blow up on the (Facebook) scene? Second, from what I could tell it was just tote bags, so honestly, how great could they really be?
When Kimi Radich of Thirty-One contacted Dallas Moms Blog and offered us a giveaway to one to our readers, I jumped at the chance to write about it. I wanted to finally find out what Thirty-One products are all about, and why I kept seeing them seemingly everywhere.
I was given a choice of several products, but after looking at them all I finally decided on the Super Organizing Tote.
The tote seemed big enough to use for my carry on luggage when we travel (I work for an airline and air travel is a big part of our lives), and I liked all the pockets on the outside so I could just reach down and grab something instead of digging through a bag.
I received my bag about a week after I made my selection, immediately opened it, and was very surprised at its size-the pictures online just didn’t illustrate how big it was! There is no doubt this bag will be able to hold everything my daughter and I need for a weekend getaway.
I am going to be totally honest here. Once I opened my tote bag, I looked at it for a few minutes and then put it aside. I honestly just didn’t think it was going to be a bag I would find myself using beyond traveling.
Then one weekend, when going to celebrate Thanksgiving with my friends I was overwhelmed with just how much I had to carry. I was contemplating the amount of trips I was going to have to take between the kitchen and the car when it hit me I could use my new Thirty-One bag.
I was able to fit three different dishes, a case of beer, and all the necessary serving utensils with tons of room to spare. I officially got the appeal! In fact, I fit so much in the bag that it was too heavy for me to carry, so I made my husband carry the tote. Isn’t he awesome?
Kimi also sent me some information about the company, and while I could tell Thirty-One had a similar set up to other direct sell companies like Mary Kay or Pampered Chef, I didn’t really know anything else. I wasn’t surprised to find out it is a relatively new company; the owner Cindy Monroe started in 2003 in her basement. I was impressed by the fact about how many consultants they have. Currently there are over 80,000!
Kimi explained that she is looking to expand her team and, especially for Dallas women, now is the time because Thirty-One is so new to our area.
If you have any other questions about Thirty-One products, Kimi is awesome and would love to answer any you can throw her way.
