10 Fun Ways to Celebrate Read Across America Week with a Dr. Seuss Theme
Celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday is a nationwide reading caravan that takes place annually. Here are some awesome ways you can jump into reading with the help of Dr. Seuss.
- National Read Across America Day! This day is celebrated each year on March 2nd, which just so happens to be Dr. Seuss’s birthday. But don’t stop there. Make the weak fun with these social media posts that your family and friends are sure to enjoy.
- Costume Time – Be a character for a day! Pinterest has you covered! Pick your favorite character and let the creativity begin. Post it on Instagram and tag Dallas Moms.
- The Cat in the Hat Fun – Oh, the possibilities and the adventure you will find with that funny cat in that big hat! This activity list is endless. My kids absolutely love their Cat in the Hat fruit snacks. It is so simple, strawberries and bananas on a skewer topped with whipped cream for extra fun!
- Write a story. We all have some imagination tucked away inside! Pull out the laughs with these 20 amazing Dr. Seuss-themed writing prompts.
- Handprint Art. Here’s a great way to do a small art project that is easy and fun! Just a little paint is all you need!
- Truffula Trees. Use some straws, candy melts, marshmallows, and colored sugar to create the most adorable marshmallow Truffula Tree from Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Who Was Dr. Seuss, by Janet Pascal, and Oh, the Places He Went, by Maryann Weidt are my favorite Dr. Seuss biographies for kids. We plan to get Judy Sierra’s Imagine That and Kate Klimo’s Dr. Seuss the Great Doodler to add to our collection.
