Sleep. It’s what every mother wishes for!
We read countless books. Discuss it for hours with our spouses, friends, parents, and strangers. Analyze the latest research and attempt then to analyze our children. All to get to that magical place where we are finally able to sleep for 8 hours straight!
The ways we get to this milestone have become a division among us. Some sleep train; others co-sleep. Some choose to cry it out; others would never. For 1 week only, Dallas Moms Blog has decided to tackle this controversial topic.
Our goal this week isn’t to convince you of what is right or wrong, but simply to share our own experiences with sleep— methods that worked and those that didn’t, and all the thoughts, emotions, and yes,-guilt that went making decisions that we ultimately felt was best for our children.
As we start our week, you’ll hear all about sleep tips and tricks that helped a few of contributors get their children to sleep through the night as young as 3 months. In partnership with Visa of Sound Sleepers, a Dallas children’s sleep consultant, we invite you to join us in making this series a safe, open discussion for moms who are seeking advice and support. We want our stories to be an opening for you to ask questions to our contributors (and expert!) or share your experiences with other moms who are looking for some assurance that they’re not alone.
Then as the week goes on, we’ll transition into more personal stories from contributors who chose to throw the advice and books away and do it all on their own using only their instinct as a guide.
Throughout the series, you’ll hear about happiness, relief, confusion, disappointment, and sometimes even anger. It’s going to get real!
Again, we hope you’ll keep in mind that the point of this series isn’t to convince you that you’re a bad parent, but that we’re all just moms doing the best we can to raise beautiful babies, but most importantly, we hope you’ll walk away from this topic knowing you don’t have to do it alone!
