Is it too early to say that Spring has Sprung in Texas? The weather over the last few weeks has been absolutely gorgeous, and although it’s not even March, I’m already seeing a glimpse of summer just around the corner. Unfortunately, we’re not quite ready for our usual summer activities of inflatable pools, sprinklers, and Popsicles, so we’re making the most of our backyard.
Living in North Dallas, we don’t have as large of backyards as some families in Dallas. A large patio and mature trees take up most of the space, so what we have put outside for our kids to play with has been very strategic. Since having kids, we’ve added a homemade fort complete with swings, a slide, sandbox, and chalkboard. But one kid-friendly element we’d love to add is a trampoline. Unfortunately these large round structures just don’t seem like a good use of space with their wide frames (and this mom is a little paranoid about her babies’ safety!)
Well, this past December I was invited out to Springfree Trampoline’s holiday open house for some kid-free activities and an “open jump”. We took a break from our usually stressful holiday shopping and made the short trip up to Springfree Trampoline‘s storefront in Frisco. As we walked through the door, we were greeted by a jolly ol’ Santa Clause waving to my boys and the smell of hot chocolate and warm cookies in the air.
If Springfree Trampoline hosts another open house, make sure you take some time out of your Saturday to attend. They go all out!
Our boys had a blast jumping on the demo trampolines filled with balloons. There were holiday crafts and stocking activities for those who wanted to take a break from all the activity. Parents and kids were also invited to keep warm with a complimentary hot chocolate bar with all the toppings and snack station with warm cookies and popcorn cups.
While the kids were distracted, it gave my husband and I some time to walk around and learn more about Springfree Trampoline and why this brand is standing out with safety experts and consumers as “The World’s Safest Trampoline.”
How is Springfree Trampoline different?
Through 15 years of research and development, inventor — and dad!– Dr. Keith Alexander reengineered the trampoline design to eliminate the impact points that are the cause of most trampoline injuries. His dedication and belief that children deserve safe backyard play fuels Springfree Trampoline’s commitment to education and passion for innovation and quality. Today, more than 20 years after the Springfree journey began, their mission remains the same — to change the definition of trampoline.
Springfree Trampoline’s commitment to safety has helped them eliminate the impact areas that cause 90% of trampoline injuries. It’s also earned them awards, such as:
- 2015 RedDot Product Design Award
- 2011 Parent Tested Parent Approved Winner
- 2010 Product of the Year, Canada & 2010 Product of the Year, USA
- 2009 Family Choice Award
So, how is it actually different? Most trampolines are designed with several hard and dangerous components next to the jumping area. And while many companies have done their best to hid the metal spring-based coils and thick metal frame, these still cause over 100,000 injuries each year. Springfree Trampoline’s metal frame and unique composite rods sit underneath and out of the way of the jumping area.
Other trampoline companies also use steel rods to support the trampoline netting, but Springfree Trampoline has designed FlexiNet enclosures with cushioned rods that bend if the jumper were to fall into them.

But what my husband and I loved most about these trampolines are their ability to fit into any size backyard! While we hadn’t been able to consider a trampoline in our backyard before, Springfree Trampoline offers a variety of shapes and sizes from rounds to ovals and even squares that will fit in almost any space. So, we’re now taking measurements and rethinking our spring and summer plans. While Christmas is behind us, our boys may just get their wish this year!
