Here are two pictures of me: when we first found out we were pregnant:
And at 15 wks. Disclaimer: I had just eaten 15 oreos.
I used Bath and Body Works “Lay It On Thick” lotion (its part of their True Blue Spa line – all the packaging is blue and geared towards more spa like stuff – i.e. foot scrub, massage oil, etc.) ALL over my belly, breasts, thighs, and booty. I actually only used it on my belly for the first 7-8 months and when I saw the stretch marks starting to show on my thighs, booty, and the ladies, I started using it there. HOWEVER, I did not get any stretch marks on my belly where I had so diligently applied it for 8 months. π I *believe* that this lotion kept my belly skin pretty. The only downside is that the lotion is really thick and creamy, so your skin will be slightly sticky after applying. What I do is apply it before bed and then when I wake up in the morning, the stickiness is gone and my skin is so soft! π
We are pregnant with baby #2 now and I am using this lotion every other night π Good luck!
I used Jergens skin tightening lotion or whatever it’s officially called and it didn’t work so don’t buy that garbage. I am still struggling with the emotional scar the stretch marks left on my belly.
Also, I drank DPs when I was pregnant and my kiddo is A-Ok! I did cut out green tea though π
Enjoy your growing belly!
Lindy Jo, you are so precious! I had no idea you were pregnant. Congrats! I have no suggestions for cellulite cream. In fact, the cellulite I had pre-pregnancy in my legs actually went away during pregnancy. Not sure how that happened? But it has since come back. I used regular ol’ body butter on my belly to prevent stretch marks (and help with the itching!). They say it’s a myth that creams prevent stretch marks anyway, but I figured what would be the harm? I do know staying hydrated helps too, though, so keep drinking that water! I can’t wait to follow your journey with you!! π
So cute!! I’m so excited for you and Caleb!!!
Congratulations!!
I would just say be careful to avoid lotions with phthalates in them, as those are endrocrine disruptors. Most scented products do contain phthalates, you can look up products for safety on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database to find safe ones. I used either the unscented 365 brand lotion from Whole Foods or pure cocoa butter from Natural Grocers. Still got stretch marks but after each pregnancy I put Bio-Oil on my stomach twice a day and it worked great!
Hang in there with the nausea, I got it with both of mine too. It just sucks but it won’t last forever!
Also a really great book is The Baby Whisperer – love it!
