This weekend, White Rock Local Market (WRLM) celebrated it’s 2013 opening weekend. I’ve driven past it on a few different occasions, so when I read that it was coming back I was determined to go. Despite the (literally) freezing weather, the warm Texas sun made it bearable and my entire family enjoyed ourselves.
My husband and I love to buy from local vendors, and WRLM did not disappoint! The entire lot of Lakeside Baptist Church was filled with all different types of vendors everything from food (both businesses and farmers) to craft vendors. We tasted tons of goodies and learned a lot about the various products. I especially enjoyed speaking with a local honey vendor about seasonal allergies and how local honey can help alleviate some of the symptoms it seems that so many Dallasites are suffering from right now.
Even the little one had a blast-Evelyn picked out a barrette from one craft vendor that she had to promptly wear and hasn’t stopped since. Her favorite part though was when we took advantage of the tent set up for kids where they could use provided materials to draw on a table covered in butcher paper. It was very difficult to convince her to leave but promises of other samples helped tear her away.
I’m so glad that we finally made it out , WRLM will be a frequent weekend stop. I love going to the Farmer’s Market and picking up fresh produce but the convenience of this market wins hands down. The market will continue every weekend until December, closing with a holiday themed market. The first and second weekends are considered Everything markets, like the one I went to and the third and fourth are exclusive weekends for farmers, growers and artisan foods. There are two locations that rotate weekends, Lakeside Baptist Church and Green Spot.
Have you ever been to White Rock Local Market? What was your favorite product you sampled or purchased?
I love the WRLM!! We’ve been going for years and everyone is always so nice and has so many great things to purchase. This past weekend I bought a killer t-shirt for the hubs from Dowdy Studio. I’m even gonna order baby shirts for the boys from their website….their studio is right behind Good To Go taco- so I just love the localness of everything and intentionally supporting our neighbors!
And the food trucks that have started coming?! Don’t even get me started! Amazing!
THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!!! We love this kind of stuff and had no idea!
