3 Things that Happened When I Started Juicing

Dallas Moms JuicingNow that my second child is well on his way to toddler-hood, I finally feel like I’m getting back to myself. Thirteen months of nursing took it out of this old lady, and I am ready to shake off the excess my body had (rightfully) been carrying. Of course, I’ve read all the benefits to juicing, the warnings of replacing meals with juice, and the body’s need to detox. Those are all well and good, and I look forward to the changes in my body. It’s what has happened off the scale since I started juicing that has me excited, and I’m here for that kind of change.

Here’s what changed when I started juicing:

  1. I got back to daily workouts a few months ago, but it wasn’t until my daily green juice that I really wanted to get a handle on my diet. I didn’t want to undo all the good I had done! I’m truly not as concerned with the number on the scale as I am with how my body feels throughout the day. I’m more focused on discipline in the kitchen and eating the right foods for my body.
  2. Juicers don’t clean themselves. Juicing daily keeps me in a routine to clean the juicer each day, along with the rest of the kitchen. I struggle to stick to a cleaning rhythm, but the daily exercise of emptying the juicer and cleaning it helps me stick to the daily task of cleaning the kitchen!
  3. My husband even got in on it. And if I go a few days without making our morning green juice, he asks for it. If we’re feeling a little under the weather, I make a wellness shot that gives us the boost we need for the rest of the day. {Recipe below!}

I probably stayed away from juicing for so long because juicers are an expensive appliance and it seemed silly to spend the money. Don’t let the cost deter you! I found a used juicer on Facebook Marketplace for…$10. TEN. Check resale and garage sale groups to get your hands on one!

She continues to work full-time as an Executive Assistant in downtown Dallas. Katherine loves dining in Dallas’ local restaurants; chips and salsa are her weakness! When she’s not running after her family or busy with church activities, you might find her working on a homemade craft or two. You can catch up with her on IG @withlovebykitty
