I was at the Earth Day event at Fair Park a few weeks ago and ran across my kind of shopping – booths of all creative sorts, some so directly interesting to moms that I had to get a few business cards and pass them along to you.
Y’all, this is not a paid post. This is just me after a fun day of shopping local. I’m not even sure these lovely businesses know I am writing about them.
Me? My kids are past the ages of most of these, and I have boys who are more into cute girls than well, almost everything… so cute teepees and coordinating pillows are a thing of the past. But I know a darling thing when I see it and, I can’t keep a secret worth a darn.
Socklings
“A new generation of children’s socks.” Looks like this wonderful business started in the hands of a mom that was looking for socks that would fit her toddler. No such luck, so she started making her own. And there are two best parts which are totally tied for first place in the giving back to the world category:
1. All socks are 100% USA made, even the cotton!
2. Socklings is a Buy One, Give One company. For every pair of socks sold, they donate a pair to a child with disabilities.
“Many children have conditions that cause them to need leg braces or to be in the hospital for extended periods; Rett Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Hip Displaysia.. the list can go on and on. The medical devices, while crucial to assisting with each child’s quality of life, can begin to chafe and pinch their skin. Socklings wants to help provide some extra comfort to protect those little legs and bring a smile to that little child’s face by giving them something bright, colorful, and fun to cover both legs and feet. It just takes a small purchase to allow those dreams to become a reality.”
Dolly Estelle
Um, how on earth could I come up with words cute and sweet enough to describe what I saw at this little shop? Turns out I can’t. So do yourself a big ol’ favor and visit their site to see all the dreamy photos of the handmade teepees. And coordinating pillows and quilts? Oh my!
Take a look… (then send me a thank you for the best idea of the day.)
The Wee Gypsy
Having a wedding? Or maybe a party? Well, invite The Wee Gypsy! She’s a photo booth in a 1978 Volkswagen Bus.
From the Wee Gypsy website, “Grab a friend, or 10…, a vintage prop and hop in! Prints are ready 7 seconds after 4 posed photographs.”
I loved discovering these new finds. Let me know if you try any of them.
Happy shopping!
