There is no shame in Shapewear!

Women used to know how to use shapewear to really give them some shape!

Okay ladies, lets’s get personal for a minute. Once you have a baby (or two or three) things change. Wheather you gained 5 pounds or 50 pounds during pregnancy everything, does not go back to the way it was. Lucky for us there is a solution…SHAPEWEAR! ย I am going to guess that some you are not even familiar with this kind of undergarment. ย It is kind of a lost art. Our grandmothers were masters of it, but our mothers probably burned them in the 60’s. Remember the line in Steel Magnolias, “I have not left the house without Lycra on these thighs since I was 13!” I think it is a great representation of what past generations of women did to feel better in their clothes.

If you have been shopping for post partum undergarments, you have probably found that choices are limited. They are out there though, you just have to know where to look for it. Dallas has solutions for every budget and every shape. Here ‘s where to look:

1. Target – they carry a line made by Spanx called Assets. It includes tank tops, shorts, and slips at really reasonable prices.

2. Nordstrom – if you want a customized solution with a professional’s help, this is a great option. They will personally fit you and find you options based on budget and goals.

3. Destination Maternity – if you are currently pregnant, they make shapewear for you too! I highly recommend maternity Spanx. They give you support and help relieve back pain, but they also help slim areas around the belly to help the maternity clothes look and feel better

4. The Maddox shop – this is a great spot in the whiterock area if you prefer a small boutique for your shapewear shopping.

While your out shopping, don’t forget to grab a great fitting bra that puts everything back where it is supposed to be too. It is okay to spoil ourselves a little with what we are wearing underneath our Mom uniforms. Your clothes will fit better and you will have more confidence. Say it with me, “There is no shame in shapewear!”

  1. I have 2 more things to add: 1) Hanes makes great shapewear that you can buy at Target, and 2) shapewear that goes all the way up to nearly your armpits is the way to go! Not fond of the shapewear that stops right at the waistline, that just gave me a kind of weird bubble muffin top ๐Ÿ™‚
