If you’re like my husband and me, you’re always on the search for new opportunities for eating out with the littles. We recently discovered this gem of a diner nestled within the Preston Royal Shopping Center (just down the breezeway from Kidville!).
The Purple Cow is the epitome of a “kid-friendly” restaurant with affordable, very fast service to boot (what toddler parent doesn’t appreciate that!?!), and they have several other extras that make it a fun outing for the whole family.
Naturally, the first amenities the hubs noticed were the multiple large screen TVs mounted on the walls (with sports playing of course) as well as the fully stocked bar behind the diner counter.
And the list goes on….
Personally, what I love most about The Purple Cow is that they serve great tasting food as well! Many of the classic favorites on the menu were created over 20 years ago with a vision for serving simple dishes but in a fresh, new way.
My two current faves are the turkey burger and the Santa Fe salad. There is a burger or dog to satisfy any palette. From the classic cheeseburger to the garden burger to the Hot Mama (think spicy!) and Western burger options (cheese, bacon & bbq sauce anyone?) for the adventurous at heart.
And don’t get me started on the desserts! My favorite is the Reese’s stir-in shake, and I will definitely be trying the Caramel Cashew Coffee Sundae (wow!) on my very next visit. Oh and remember how I mentioned that fully stocked bar? They have shakes of the adult variety too!
Not just for Dallas residents….
They currently have three locations – Dallas in the Preston & Royal Shopping Center, Plano in the LakeSide Market Shopping Center & Fairview at The Village of Fairview – with a 4th location coming soon in Frisco (rumor has it Frisco will be opening sometime around August of this year).
And if that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite….
For those of you who already know the greatness of The Purple Cow, did you know they will happily host fundraising events for your organization or cater that special someone’s birthday party? And get this – they deliver! All three locations will deliver via Diningin.com. They also organize many seasonal appearances and events.
My family recently dined in for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny this past Saturday. Kiddos age 5 and under eat breakfast for free, and during the meal, the Easter Bunny himself makes an appearance at your table (with a little easter egg treat too)! The Easter Bunny will be there this coming Saturday as well (3/23 at 8am, 9am & 10am). Be sure to call to make a reservation if you plan to attend.
Although I’m sad to report they won’t be available at the Dallas location (due to space constraints), I MUST share this last morsel with the Fairview crowd. I know from the many Facebook posts that moms are constantly in search of good snow cone stands during the summer months. You won’t have to search far in Fairview to find one because now The Purple Cow at The Village of Fairview will serve them all summer long! That may even be worth the short drive north for this Dallas mom!
