When my first son turned 2 years old, I remember the struggles I went through searching for a Mother’s Day Out/Preschool. Being my first, I suffered with extreme “mom guilt” for wanting that little time to myself, but if I could find a place that would care and love for my son as much as I’d hoped then I knew it would be a great for all involved. After two years of being a stay at home mom, that little “me time” was important. Just as important as it was for him to start to socialize with other children his own age.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have many people to turn to for advice or suggestions on where I could enroll him. I will never forget that moment in December before he turned 2 when I finally decided to make the leap and enroll him into MDO. After countless hours of online research, I called into one school that had a great reputation (on Google) and asked about him starting in January and the receptionist started to chuckle. Clearly I was a first time mom who knew nothing about waitlists and open enrollments in Dallas preschools! Thankfully I ended up getting lucky and found the perfect place for him to start that following August and it all worked out, but what I wouldn’t have given to have a community of moms to have helped me save all that time and energy.
If you’re a mom finding yourself in the same position and live in the Lewisville/ The Colony area, I’m going to save you a lot of research and recommend The Learning Experience Castle Hills for you!
Safety First!
When parents drop off their children, they know that safety is TLE’s No. 1 priority! As a guest of the facility, you’ll gain access through secured doors only with the assistance of staff and must present a government issued ID upon arrival. Only registered family members and staff are able to enter the front office facilities unassisted with the use of a key fob and even then will be greeted by a TLE staff member to help them with drop off, pick up, or questions.
Fenced-in playgrounds and rounded corners in the hallways make certain that children are protected. Mirrors are placed strategically around all classrooms and hallways to ensure no child can be out of eye-sight at any time. Additionally, each classroom is equipped with cameras that are closely monitored by administrative staff to make sure that every child is safe and properly supervised.
Purposeful Facilities & Play Structures
My favorite part of The Learning Experience is that their building is designed specifically for children and each area is built to support their programs. While I LOVE preschools and Mother’s Day Outs that are supported by churches and community centers, I know how difficult it can be for these two organizations to have to share classrooms, tools, toys, and even wall space; devoting half the week to education and half the week to other uses.
We make our centers feel like a home away from home for children and families alike. Our centers are purpose-built to foster an environment where children feel comfortable, safe, and ready to learn.
Furniture, toys, books, and supplies match the children’s age and size in each classroom to make sure that play and learning is comfortable and fun! In addition, they’ve even thought about the smaller details, such as a nursing area for moms who may want to come in and snuggle or feed infants during the day. Classrooms are fresh and extremely clean thanks to their air purifying system throughout the building and strategic classrooms designed to aid in changing and potty training.
L.E.A.P. Curriculum
When you drop off your children at The Learning Express, you know that kids aren’t being “baby sat”; they’re learning! The Learning Experience has a structured Academic Program that includes sign language for infants and toddlers, a phonics program, foreign language programs, manners and etiquette, physical fitness, and a philanthropy program that teaches children the value of selflessness and giving.
Even as young as birth, educators will use themes to help develop skills in these areas. For example, during the “Friends in the Neighborhood” theme you may see children ages 6-9 months doing the following:
- Fine Motor : Make a Handprint Art Memory.
- Gross Motor : Reach for toys while lying on tummies.
- Social Emotional : Look at pictures of our friends making faces.
- Cognitive/Language : Sing “Special Me” song.
- Sensory : Use a feather to tickle feet and hands.
- Sign Language : Use ASL to sign “milk”.
Additional Enrichment Programs
In addition to curriculum, The Learning Experience understand that parents also have a desire for their children to have a well-rounded educational experience. Not only do we want children learning at school, but to provide them with experiences to develop skills and talents, such as performing arts, sports, dance, and music.
The Charlie Choo Choo® enrichment series is included in the tuition at TLE Castle Hills and provides unique sessions every 12 weeks that builds these thematic activities into daily core curriculum. As an added bonus, Children will get to take home the kits after each session so they can continue to practice and learn at home!
