Is it safe to do a staycation in Dallas? Is a staycation right for your family? We spent the weekend at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine and I’ll tell you – it was perfect for us.
With so many coronavirus cases in Dallas, our family has been hesitant to stray out too far from home. However, we are also going absolutely crazy. We chose to do an overnight staycation and the Gaylord Texan was the best option out there.
The Gaylord has so many summer activities and over 350 enhanced cleaning protocols. To help ensure proper social distancing, each of the resort’s events, restaurants and pools now offer spaced seating, and in accordance with Marriott’s “Commitment to Clean” practices, they provide enhanced cleaning technologies, hospital-grade disinfectants, attendants dedicated to sanitizing frequently throughout the day and hundreds of new cleaning processes to take care of guests while they enjoy the resort’s amenities.
We felt completely safe, and I know our family needed to get out for some major fun!
They have the following summer activities as part of their 17th Annual Summerfest, but as you know, always check their website before heading out:

Once you get to the hotel, everything is paperless (even guides, maps, menus) – all touchless so you don’t have to use hand-sanitizer by the gallon.
Not only our family, but every family seemed to be having a genuinely great time. You know when you walk around theme parks and hotels and every kid is screaming and crying? Not at the Gaylord Texan. I looked around at one point at Paradise Springs and thought, “wow, no one is crying; everyone is happy.”
So, whether you have a baby, toddler, kid or want a couples-only staycation in Dallas, the Gaylord Texan will not disappoint.
I only wish we’d gone to the Gaylord Texan sooner for our Dallas staycation.
