Shining a Light on the REAL Moms of Dallas :: Nominate Your Favorite!

On April 11th, we at Dallas Moms Blog were so excited for the launch of a highly locally-anticipated premier. So excited, we even through our own Watch Party with Studio Movie Grill Plano.

The Real Housewives of Dallas. This show would feature 5 prominent women of Dallas high society. They were moms, wives, friends, and (so we thought) ambassadors of our city. But what would make this series different from the others?

The Real Housewives of Dallas, it’s a natural extension of the franchise with a Southern twist that ‘y’all’ will enjoy,” ~Andy Cohen

Unlike Beverly Hills, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills…and all the others…the primary focus would be charity work that surrounded these women’s lives. Then, combine this with the excitement of catching a few glimpses of Park Cities and Klyde Warren Park in the background and #RHOD had all the makings of a brilliant series — with a little overly edited drama thrown in.

And then the first episode aired, “It’s a little Plano in here” happened, and just like that the only thing we eagerly awaited for each week was Tim Rogers‘s D Magazine reviews on Tuesday morning. As the season wrapped up on Monday, we couldn’t help but reflect back on what the nation might now think of our fabulous city and the women who live here. What would it have looked like if Bravo had used the REAL housewives and moms of Dallas? Would there have been a little less poop talk (okay, if you have a 2 year old maybe not) and a little more focus on what amazing things Dallas women are doing in their communities to make DFW a better place?

Those are the moms we wanted to see. Imagine if each Monday night you saw women like Paige Chenault of The Birthday Party Project dropping her daughter of at school and then heading over to a local shelter or transitional living center to throw a memorable birthday party for 60 homeless children. Or catching Sarah Brice Calver juggling the day to day grind of being a stay-at-home mom to 3 boys under 5 while also managing her start up All Out Celebrations — a business designed to relieve stress in other moms’ lives by providing a box full of fun ways to make memories. Or spending an afternoon with Natalie Boyle of Mommies in Need as prepares a schedule that will provide in-home childcare for stay at home parents temporarily disabled by serious illness or injury; all the while her kids are running around in the background.

That’s why we decided it was time to recognize incredible DFW women like these and show the nation who the REAL Moms/Housewives of Dallas are.

What is a Real Mom of Dallas Campaign?

We are looking for local moms that stand out among the crowd and truly represent our city in a positive light. Ask yourself:

  • Does she make a difference in the lives of her or others’ children?
  • Does she set an example and offer encouragement for other moms around her?
  • Does she play a vital part in the DFW community?
  • Does she do an outstanding job in her role as a mom, as well as her place of employment?

It might be your own mom, your neighbor, your grandmother, your best friend, or your child’s teacher. This might be a stay at home mom who spends her time volunteering, a rising mompreneur who manages her home life with grace, or maybe even a single mom who’s found a way to make a difference in her neighborhood/community. We want to hear about the moms that inspire you and make you think “She is a REAL Mom of Dallas!”
