Oh, how I wish I lived in a world where I could snap my fingers and the laundry would instantly be folded and put away, dishes cleaned themselves and groceries were delivered to my doorstep. Not because I’m lazy – because I’m a mom. And mamas are busy. Chasing around a tiny human and keeping them alive for 24 hours everyday takes a lot of time and effort. Can I get an amen? Someone should really work on a solution to the laundry and self-cleaning dishes, but when it comes to groceries, Lilly and Bella has made an easy, convenient way for me to feed my baby fresh, healthy food.
We introduced solids when my son was six months old. His first foods were rice cereal and oatmeal. Why? Because that’s what everyone told us to try first. My son has been exclusively breastfed, and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to provide him with food that I’ve made. Why would I treat solids any differently? I wanted to know every ingredient that he was taking in and how it was prepared, but finding time to get up to the grocery store and scour Pinterest for recipes each week can be a daunting task.
Enter: Lilly and Bella.
The founder who was a new mom at the time, struggled with finding the time to cook (or even grocery shop, let’s be honest) for her daughter while working a demanding full time job and noticed several other mothers in similar situations. She created Lilly & Bella (inspired by Blue Apron and similar services) as a solution. L&B provides fresh, organic produce accompanied by easy-to-follow recipes tailored to the age of your child and conveniently delivered to your doorstep, making it easy for mamas to make their own nutritious baby food from scratch. There are 4 stages to choose from depending on your child’s age:
- Stage One: 4 – 6 months. Introduces babies to solid foods for the first time
- Stage Two: 6 – 8 months. Blends fruits and veggies together to introduce new flavors
- Stage Three: 8+ months. Moves away from pureed foods to chunkier foods and texture
- Stage Four: For families who have graduated from baby food but still want weekly deliveries of fresh, organic produce that they can prepare with and for their young families
My son is almost 9 months now, so we chose stage 3. Each week I could hardly contain my excitement when I saw our L&B delivery bag sitting on the front porch as I pulled into the driveway. I was so thankful to be able to spend time together as a family each night before bedtime without worrying about running to the store. Once my son was down for the night, my husband aka my sous chef and I would try a new recipe. I tasted everything we made before giving it to my son, and I was so surprised at how flavorful everything was and how simple it was to make.
Lilly & Bella was created not only to deliver fresh produce and recipes to families, but to also provide a community and network of mothers. Whether you are just starting solids for the first time or have little ones that like to “help” with dinner, Lilly and Bella allows you to experience making organic food for your child without all of the hassle. Kid tested, mommy approved.
