I wish I could say that I stumbled across Richardson Mercantile on my own but honestly I’m not that cool. Luckily a friend of a friend, who IS super cool, filled me in on this GEM of a place.
Richardson Mercantile, located on Coit Road in Richardson, took over the old Whole Foods spot just south of Beltline Road. While I was bummed to see Whole Foods go, I am thrilled to have a new spot to find gifts and treasures. This fabulous place is filled with different vendors and more moving in each week. These mini-shops offer antiques, art, vintage collectibles, home decor, furniture, textiles, gifts, clothing, accessories and more! They even have a full time jeweler and a coffee bar.
While the Richardson Mercantile has been open for a few weeks, the Grand Opening event is THIS Saturday, January 17th, from 11-5pm. There will be special surprises, door prizes, and giveaways! What a perfect excuse to leave the kids at home and have a fun shopping experience by yourself or with friends! (Kids are welcome, of course, mine just aren’t good at shopping.)
Speaking of Mom activities, why not look into Classes at Richardson Mercantile? The Ruffled Knot is offering a Valentine Sign making class. The options are Tuesday, January 20th from 6pm-9pm or Wednesday, January 21st from 10am-1pm. There are multiple choices including: a glitter heart, a heart for your door, a tall “LOVE” sign, or the option to add your own creativity with the materials. The heart door hanger and signs are $35 and the tall LOVE sign is $40. Interested? Sign-up and prepay at the store.
Are you creative? Do you make clothes, furniture, wreaths, etc? Have you ever wanted to open a shop but didn’t think you had the time? Maybe YOU should talk to the folks at Richardson Mercantile about running an unmanned booth in their store! If you do, be sure to let us know! One of our Dallas Moms Blog readers owns the Emerald & Ivory booth filled with adorable clothing and accessories (think Francesca’s but priced even better!) and would be thrilled to see other moms with small businesses.
So, I may not have been cool enough to find this place on my own, but now that I’ve been, I feel like I hit the jackpot.
