You may recall from a previous post in January that I only had 1 wish this past Christmas – to take a photography class to learn how to properly work my digital camera!
I LOVED my experience with Mom & Pop Photo School‘s in-person class on photography, but I soon discovered after returning home that a lot of what I learned in the class quickly began to fade. I was also eager to sign up for follow-up classes, but like most moms, life got in the way and finding time to attend was a struggle.
Thanks to the 101 Set from Mom & Pop Photo School, I’ve been able to continue learning through their self-paced online courses!
Mom and Pop Photo School courses were created by Candace Moss, a mom and professional children’s photographer. Candace has taught face-to-face photography classes across the country. Now, with Mom and Pop Photo School, she is sharing her trademark process with parents online and around the world.
101 Set
101 Set is a comprehensive 116 page PDF that includes Portraits 101 and Camera 101 self-paced courses. The goal is to feel confident with your camera and take professional-like photos of your children and family. You get to set the pace and find ways to fit the photo time into your own schedule.
In Portraits 101, you’ll first learn the camera settings important to portraits, followed by 5 valuable lessons on photography from how to get your kids to cooperate (keeping your child’s attention & power struggles) to identifying the best possible lighting for your photos.
Throughout this whole section, there’s samples that demonstrate the tips being shared–almost like having a photographer sharing their photos with you as you practice. Candace also throws in an awesome printable pocket guide to help you take the most important tips on the go.
In Camera 101, you begin to dive into your camera’s manual. You’ll learn what all those initials are scattered around your dials (like M, P, and ISO) and which settings are appropriate for the photos you’re trying to take.
You’ll also discover why you might be having some of the most common problems like blurry photos or washed out images.
After purchasing Set 101, you’ll begin receiving weekly emails to help support you during your self-paced classes. These little nuggets have practice exercises to go the lessons, but since they come in your inbox, if you get a little behind, they’re easy to archive until you need them!
If you’re interested in learning more about your camera and improving your photos, give 101 Set from Mom & Pop Photo School a try! Right now you can gain access to the entire 101 Set for only $29.
Not sure you need both courses? Portraits 101 ($24) and Camera 101 ($15) can be downloaded separately and used as needed.
If you give 101 Set a try, let us know! We’d love to hear what you think!
