I will be the first to admit that I am no budding artist. No hidden talents here, ladies and gents. My husband and I recently had the opportunity to attend a wine and painting event with Pinot’s Palette in Garland and I figured, “Hey, at least I know I’m good at the wine part!”

Pinot Palette Dallas Moms Blog 1Neither of us had ever done anything like this so we had no clue what to expect. Should we practice beforehand? Do they need to know that one time my mother-in-law mistook my adult coloring book for my 1-year-old daughter’s work? This could be embarrassing. But, we were assured that no art experience was required so we channeled our inner Rembrandt and headed to Firewheel Town Center.

Pinot’s Palette’s mission is to provide an upscale “paint & sip” experience that their customers expect and deserve and can not find anywhere else. It was apparent that the owners and staff of Pinot’s Palette Garland take pride in the quality of every detail of the experience from the aesthetics of the store to the cubbies where you store your personal belongings.

Pinot Palette Dallas Moms Blog 3We pulled up to the studio, a bottle of wine in hand, and were greeted at the door by a line of artists ready to welcome us, adorn us with an apron, and show us to our easel. Pinot’s Palette lives by the motto Paint. Drink. Have Fun. and the lively atmosphere infiltrated the entire evening. They provided us with real wine glasses, unlimited ice, ice buckets to chill our drinks, plates, forks, napkins, utensils, bottle openers, and bottles of water. We felt pampered and celebrated throughout the evening, as though the party was just for us!

Once seated, the instructing artist walked us through the class while the others danced, sang, and made sure we didn’t run out of paint or encouragement.

We were guided brush-by-brush through a pre-selected scene, ours was “Amber Sunset”. The entire class took about 3 hours with a few breaks included. Many of the participants executed on the directions with precision, while a few stretched their creative muscles and went rogue painting everything from music lyrics to Donald Trump. All of the instructors are local artists with extensive experience and an obvious passion for their work. I did my best to follow along, Bob Ross style, though I got a little more “uninhibited” as the night went on, and we were both quite proud of our results.  The instruction was phenomenal and it was truly magical to accomplish something you didn’t even know you were capable of doing, such as painting your own masterpiece!
