Omni Fort Worth – A DFW Staycation Destination

Our contributor Dana received a complimentary stay with her family to provide you with this review of the Omni Fort Worth. All opinions are 100% her own.

There we were…standing in the lobby of a hotel. My three year old, in tears, telling me he wants to stay at this hotel forever.  Buddy, I felt the same way.Omni Fort Worth - Dallas Moms BlogThis past weekend the Omni Fort Worth treated my family to a weekend staycation. From start to finish, we had a wonderful experience.

It all started with check-in in the gorgeous lobby where we picked up our room keys as usual, but also a mini backpack for my son filled with activities like a memory game, coloring book and crayons, and a crazy straw.  While “Dad” picked up dinner at one of the delicious options nearby (Cane Rosso!), my son got right to work, and I got us settled in.

After dinner we received a special turndown treat – milk and cookies!  We also were given a copy of “Goodnight Cowtown” to add to our bedtime routine — all of which is a part of the Omni Sensation Kids program.  My kids did have a little trouble sleeping – but not because of the beds (so comfy!) but because of sheer exhilaration!

Envision this.  Omelet station.  Baked goods cart.  Gluten free counter.  Pancake of the day.  Yogurt and fruit selection.  Special (free range) egg scrambles.  Steel cut oatmeal with your choice of toppings.  Plus two kinds of biscuits, two kinds of sausage, bacon, gravy, and more.  And this doesn’t include the special kids buffet that was not only at their height but their taste level.  Cheesy scrambled eggs, french toast, chocolate milk… Yes you just read almost 100 words about one meal because I still have not recovered from the amazingness of that smorgasbord.

Omni Fort Worth kids breakfast buffetMy family was treated to one of the many Fort Worth Hotel Special packages which included breakfast at Cast Iron Restaurant, turn-down amenities, and the copy of Goodnight Cowtown, but one of our favorite inclusions was tickets to the Zoo! So after breakfast we drove about 10 minutes away to the amazing Fort Worth Zoo.

Established over 100 years ago and home to over 500 species, the Zoo has approximately one million people visit every year!  We were blessed with beautiful weather and moderate crowds.  We loved seeing all the animals, especially the white tiger who was putting on quite a show, and one of their newest additions, baby gorilla Gus!  His momma was snuggling him right next to the glass so we got a great view of him.

While the kids (and Dad!) napped, I hit up the Mokara Spa.  One facial and deep tissue massage later I was a new woman, with glowing skin and a distinct lack of tension in my neck and back! The Mokara Spa is located near the rooftop pool and provides a full range of spa treatments from massages, facials and body wrap treatments to manicures and pedicures.

After naptime we drove just to the other side of Trinity Park where there are a plethora of fun dining and nightlife options.

Omni Fort Worth viewThe next morning after breakfast we picked up our free Starbucks (maybe I should have led with this) and woefully headed out!

It was so nice to get out of Dallas for a weekend, and the Omni did such a great job taking care of us.  The staff was courteous and accommodating, and everyone we encountered seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were having a good stay.  My husband and I will definitely be coming back (maybe without children) soon!  The Omni is perfectly located to enjoy so much of Fort Worth within a couple of miles.
