Celebrate National Margarita Day in Dallas

2

February 22nd is National Margarita Day.  If you didn’t know that, now you do and it should live forever on your calendar! Dallas has no shortage of good margaritas either. This post is over 15 years in the making as I’ve scoured the city looking for the best, local margaritas. It’s been rough at times, but it was all worth it to present you this list.

Enjoy and Cheers!  You all deserve to celebrate.

Meso Maya
It’s hard to compete with the food menu but these margaritas are reason enough to go to Meso Maya. There are about six options on the menu, including avocado and serrano-berry infused versions each one made with different tequila.  Try them all and get a Lyft home.

Cantina Laredo
The straight-up Skinny Margarita is my favorite. It’s tangy and light enough that I usually have two by the time dinner is done. And it goes great with the tableside guac.

Blue Goose
Known to be strong… and good. The frozen version has many followers and most say no more than two! I still like the on the rocks and lighter version which is still a little sweet and plenty of tasty.  Plus the queso here is just about the best I’ve ever had.

Mi Cocina/Taco Diner
The obvious choice… a Mambo Taxi. This is one frozen version that I will always order.  It’s pretty tough to beat a Mambo and girl time on the patio on a summer day in Dallas. Notice: Rumor has it, they’ll only serve you two because they’re just a little strong, but I’ve never “needed” more than two to test that theory!

Mesero
Can we list Mi Cocina’s Mambo Taxi and not list Mesero’s El Santo? Absolutely not because it’s basically the same drink. Shhh…we didn’t say that! 😉 But both restaurants were founded by the same man, so we have to give him credit for this iconic, local drink.

Mi Dia from Scratch
Mi Dia is quickly becoming one of my new favs. Not only is the food delicious, but their margaritas are so refreshing and unique! I mean, where else can you find a frozen margarita with violet liqueur and pomegranate tequila? Need a recommendation? Try the Mexican Candy margarita. It’s got the sweetness of mango with a little chili kick!

What’s your favorite margarita in town?

Krystal Hurst
Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.

  1. Love a good source for margs! Thanks for sharing. Blue Goose is one of my favorite Dallas Tex Mex spots and on Thursdays all day long its $3 queso, margaritas, beers and well drinks! Taco Joint also has a pretty good margarita and we LOVE that place. Very kid friendly!

    Happy National Marg day!
