A few weeks ago, our contributor Abby wrote an incredible post that left us feeling inspired – Dating Other Moms: From Drop off to Play Dates. In her post, she details exactly the anxiety, nervousness, and awkwardness that comes from trying to “Date” other moms while you’re looking for a new group of friends in this stage of motherhood.
Am I looking desperate? Do I ask for her number? Do I “Friend” her on Facebook? How often do I comment? I don’t want to come on too strong…. But she seems REALLY cute and nice and fun… and I want to be friends outside of the hallway at Mother’s Day Out!
The response from our audience wasn’t surprising as we’ve all been there…some of us are still there! And that’s when we had an idea!
Let’s help fight the awkwardness (if even just a little) and make it a little easier to help you meet your new bestie with “Mommy Speed Dating!”
The Facts
Who :: all Dallas-Fort Worth moms
What :: Join Dallas Moms Blog for a one-of-a-kind Moms Night Out event at Lakewood Brewing.
Why :: Whether you’re new the area, new to Motherhood, or just love meeting new people, this event is for you! We’ll spend the evening enjoying a fun, memorable night out away from the kids with shopping vendors, food, frosty beverages from Lakewood Brewing, and a chance to find your new Mommy BFF. During the evening, there will be multiple opportunities to casually meet moms from your area and discuss common interests. But of course, it wouldn’t be a Mommy Speed Dating event without a little Speed Dating!
This will be a thoughtfully planned, intentional activity during a portion of the evening to help moms discover a mom or two (in your area of town) that you could see developing a friendship with — or even just asking over for a playdate!
Already found your village? Bring your girlfriends and help us cheer on those who are looking for theirs. Be a friendly face, conversation starter, or just enjoy the night at a private Lakewood Brewing event with friends!
When :: June 30, 2016 from 7:00pm-9:00pm (Doors will open at 6:30pm for those who want to escape a little early!)
Where :: Lakewood Brewing 2302 Executive Dr, Garland, TX 75041
Ticket Price :: General Admission – $10
All tickets include the following:
- Access to the event and all of our sponsors (such as Martin-Mayer Group and Mend), shopping with Kendra Scott of McKinney & Kate Somerville) games, activities, and giveaways from Lipsense, Pottery Barn Kids, and more!
- Food and drink (non-alcholic) from businesses like Whole Foods Lakewood and Sprouts Farmers Market
- A swag bag loaded with goodies
- 5 raffle tickets to use giveaways of your choosing
Lakewood Brewing will also open up their Tap Room for a cash bar to make additional beverage purchases.
