Having a solid margarita recipe under your belt is essential for any Texas home bar set up. It’s classic, delicious, and best paired with warm chips and cold salsa. If you are not a fan of traditional margaritas, might I suggest its cousin the Ranch Water? Less work-intensive, no shaking involved. Just pour, stir, and enjoy! With Cinco de Mayo days away and summer on the horizon, it’s time to get out your shaker, bust out your blender, cut some limes, salt some glasses, and gear up for a refreshingly good time.

Traditional Margarita

Ingredients:
2 oz. tequila
1 oz. lime juice
½ oz. simple syrup
¼ oz. orange liqueur
Salt for rim
Lime wedge to garnish

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker is cold – about 30 seconds. Pour over ice into a glass with a salted rim, garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

To make this margarita frozen, combine all ingredients into a blender with roughly 1/4c ice and blend until desired consistency.

Ranch Water

Ingredients
1.5-2oz tequila
1 oz lime juice
½ Topo Chico
Ice to fill glass
Lime wedge to garnish

Fill tall collins glass with ice. Pour in tequila, lime juice, and Topo Chico. Gently stir in glass and top with a lime wedge.

Pour the chips friends and clink your glasses! Let me know in the comments if you enjoy one of these beverages on May 5th!
