Healthy eating definitely top most parent’s lists of hot topics these days. Everyone is doing their best to make the best dietary choices for their family amongst a never-ending sea of options. This task becomes a little more daunting when you’re on the go, and it’s time to feed a picky eater. The good news is no matter where you are, there’s almost always healthy options these days. Finding healthy options that are kid approved though? That’s no easy task!
Enter McDonald’s. McDonald’s has been an icon in the fast food industry as long as most of us can remember. They continue to stand the test of time, evolving to meet their customer’s needs offering a wide variety of options. One of many ways they continue to exceed expectations is to offer a healthy and quality meal for children.
McDonald’s offers great Happy Meal options, like a hamburger made with a 100% beef patty that has no fillers, additives or preservatives, or their tender and juicy Chicken McNuggets. Drink options include 1% low-fat white milk or apple juice. And, as always, a Happy Meal toy comes in every box.
Recently, McDonald’s on Greenville welcomed a few local Dallas moms for a lunch and learn featuring local dietician, Olayide Adejumobi. Moms were welcome to bring their little ones and come get the most up-to-date information on the best dietary choices from the McDonald’s menu.
Often we think we’re making the best choices at restaurants only to later find out we were incorrect. McDonald’s took the guess work out of things for us, and gave us the inside scoop on best choices to make from their delicious menu. Dietician approved menu options for a Happy Meal include Chicken McNuggets, apple slices, Yoplait Go-Gurt, and low-fat milk. Just need a snack? Opt for their fruit and yogurt parfait from the a la cart menu. Stopping by for breakfast? The Egg-White Delight McMuffin is the best option there! Visiting for lunch or dinner? The Southwest Grilled Chicken salad is the way to go!
McDonald’s is committed to embracing healthy eating. A few changes they’ve made recently to hold up that commitment is to offer all white meat with no added antibiotics. They’ve also committed to only offering fresh, sustainable beef, and milk from cows not treated with rbST. I know those are all changes we as parents can get behind!
We had so much fun learning about healthy menu options at our first Dallas Moms Blog Lunch Bunch event with McDonald’s! Thank you again to the Greenville location for hosting us! If you missed us last month, be sure to stay tuned for information on our next Lunch Bunch event, coming up in June!
Until next time, bon appetit!
