With the heat sticking around like a fly that won’t stop buzzing around your head, it has been getting harder and harder to find things to do that don’t involve being outside. Our “fun list” is getting shorter! At the recommendation of a friend, my husband and I traveled to NorthPark Mall recently so that our daughter could see the fountains, turtles & ducks, and mommy and daddy could have some quiet walk time.
I had been to NorthPark Mall before (located just west of 75 on Park Ln), but I hadn’t ventured far enough into the mall (it just keeps going and going!) to know there was a pond with ducks and turtles. Here are some snapshots of our fun:
My sweet daughter and daddy looking at the turtles. She had just learned the word “turtle” literally the day before, so she was very excited. She kept reaching her arms out and saying, “Commmere! I anna hoh-choo!” Which translates: “Come here! I wanna hold you!” (Oh toddler-ese, how did I ever learn you?)
Here is the view of the pond. Small, yes, but oh so fun. A friend of mine joked, “Nice. Tiffany in the background, Erin? How convenient.” 😉 The pond here stretches out to the left and right. And to the right, see the bridge railing? The pond reaches over that direction with a fountain and more swimming turtles.
Here’s me with my munchkin – of course, looking away from the camera when my hubby snaps the shot! But you can see the turtles in the water there.
We had a lot of fun, my daughter LOVED seeing the turtles and ducks, hubby and I enjoyed some quiet time together while we strolled with our daughter in the stroller eating her snack.
If you’re looking for a cool – both temperature and awesome – way to get out of the heat, try the pond at NorthPark!
I admit I haven’t ever taken the boy to North Park and I think I see this in our future! Thanks Erin!!
tanner is obsessed with ducks…so glad to know they have them at northpark. now i won’t have to sweat buckets while we look for the ducks outside at watter’s creek.
