And long after my little ones get tired of playing with their new toys, they are still reminiscing about all the fun we had together and the memories we made. The tree lighting ceremonies and Santa events! The time with family and loved ones!!
I know Dallas has a plethora of events to choose from this holiday season (we’ve already been to a few) – but this year we found an awesome destination retreat for our family to make new holiday memories and traditions — JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.
When we got the invitation to visit the JW Marriott for their holiday events kickoff, I have to admit – I was pretty excited! I’ve heard great things about this resort from friends. But even knowing it was going to be impressive, the #JWHolidays still blew me away!
The resort features a shocking number of amenities, events, restaurants and holiday activities! From 2 challenging golf courses, to the 6-acre heated water park (a lazy river in a comfortable 80 degrees in the winter – yes please), to 7 very impressive/delicious restaurants, to the largest spa in all of TX – there is literally something AMAZING for everyone in your family! And I haven’t even gotten to the holiday events yet!
The JW Holiday Illumination on the Crooked Branch Patio is spectacular light display from inside and out! As part of the festivities the resort also offers . . .

My son is still sporting his Elf costume around the house and talking about meeting Santa and Mrs. Clause last weekend! And my husband is still talking about the size of the TV in the sports bar (120 feet long)!

This is our favorite place to begin the holidays as well! We have been Thanksgiving weekend for the past 3 years. My granddaughter is in kindergarten this year, and also remembers all the fun activities. Her daddy got the most amazing pictures with Santa at the Breakfast with Santa. He had lots of time and got all the best angles. Susanna became a Certified Elf this year and the elf tuck in is a genius activity that the whole family enjoys. We also go in the summer and rent a cabana for all day at the water park. I call this the “Texas Kellerman’s” because we arrive and don’t call for our car until it is time to go home! The only thing it is missing is Patrick Swayze teaching dance lessons!
