Look no further, parents: YMCA offers accessible summer camps in Dallas with options all across our city. With 19 different day camp locations in DFW, I’m certain you’ll be able to find one that’s convenient to you!

I’m a huge fan of YMCA childcare. I started taking my youngest with me to the Lakewood and Lake Highlands YMCAs as soon as he was eligible to spend an hour in childcare. The staff at our local Y was so caring. They knew us by name, and I trusted them with my little bundle as I headed off to spin class for a bit of self-care. Now, we’re at the stage where my kids can go to day camp during the summer. And I know exactly where to turn for the kind of childcare support we all hope for in a summer camp experience.

Did you know that campers at YMCA outdoor camps spend approximately 70% of their time outside, and campers at indoor camps spend approximately 30% of their time outside?

YMCA camps are a great opportunity for kids to find new talents, try new activities, and make lasting memories, many of which are OUTDOORS! YMCA Summer Day Camp exists to provide uninterrupted enrichment-based care for families who need full-day support.

2022 YMCA Dallas summer day campsThe Y offers consecutive one-week camps for the entire summer break with both indoor and outdoor options (7:3am–5:30pm, daily). Snacks and/or meals are included, so no need to pack a lunch. And extended care is available so no need to scramble for pick-up. (Let’s breathe a sigh of relief, right?!)

Most camps are for kids ages five and up, but Camp Pee Wee is a good option for younger ones, starting at three years old.

Campers’ days will be filled with all sorts of fun:

  • Weekly theme-based enrichment activities
  • Nature/outdoor learning
  • Creative and performing arts/improvisation games
  • Fitness and conditioning
  • Community service
  • Global diversity projects
  • Off-site field trips
  • Swimming/water games
  • Leadership opportunities
  • And so much more!

You can’t beat it. Oh, and did I mention that these camps are affordable? As I’ve done my research, I’ve realized that other camps end up costing more than my last nine months of childcare combined—for just a few short weeks! The YMCA makes it affordable.
