It’s always the very first signs of spring that get me itching for pool days and farmers markets. If I could, I would hide in bed, under the covers, and wait for the winter months to pass each year. Now that the weather is finally heating up (rather quickly!) and the beautiful days are starting to outnumber the muggy ones , I find myself continually adding to my list of fun things I want to do with my family in the metroplex this spring. Of course, most of these activities would be fine year-round, but I’m especially excited to enjoy them in the lovely spring weather. This list may be a little ambitious, but even if only a few activities get accomplished, then I’ll call it a success and roll over the rest to a summer to-do list. So without further ado, here is my family fun list of spring activities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area…
1. Visit splashpads….often (this is my favorite non-crowded splash park).
2. Dress the boys up in boots and explore the Ft. Worth Stockyards.
3. Go fruit-picking at Hams Orchard.
4. Eat lots of dinners as a family on the back patio.
5. Build a bird feeder with the kids and make a game out of bird watching.
6. Leave the boys with a sitter and enjoy a romantic picnic and concert with the hubby at the Arboretum Concert series.
7. Make the drive to Burgers Lake in Ft. Worth and enjoy swimming and splashing all day.
8. Lots of picnics at White Rock Lake.
9. Enjoy the cute scenery and everything else Downtown Grapevine has to offer.
10. Take the train from Dallas to Ft. Worth just for fun (because what kid doesn’t love a good ole’ train ride?)
11. Watch movies outside at the Waterscreek Movies by the Creek series (or at any of the other outdoor shopping centers that usually do this–spring schedules should be released soon).
12. Go to our first Rangers Game with the family (yes we’ve been living in Dallas for 3 years….don’t judge).
13. “Camp” in the backyard….tent, s’mores, campfire meal, stargazing….with Pinterest the possibilities are endless.
14. Make a few trips to the Children’s Museum inside the Museum of Nature and Science.
15. Make a few trips to the Zoo (before it get’s too scorching hot!)
16. Visit a few local Farmers Market (my favorite is right up the road at the White Rock Local Market)
17. Hunt for hidden gems in garage sales
18. Weekend trip to Austin…it’s only a 3 hour drive away and there is TONS of fun stuff for the family in Austin
19. Swoon over all the amazing homes at the Swiss Avenue Mother’s Day Home Tour (hint hint honey)
20. Listen to music on a blanket at the free Concerts by the Lake series in Rockwall.
21. Tour a local Fire Station with a group of buddies

Hey I am new to Dallas, located at Ross and Fitzhugh. I found y’all because I’m from Scottsdale, and loved Scottsdale moms blog! Anyways, your #17 got me excited, because I LOVE a good garage sale. Are there any neighborhoods in my area of town that pretty consistently have garage sales?
Welcome Olivia! Yes….tons of great areas near you! The “M Streets” is pretty good for garage sales. And pretty much anything in the Lakewood area. Maybe we should do a whole post on Garage Sales 🙂
Hi Olivia. Did you recently place an order with The Master’s Works? Your order was returned by the post office for an insufficient address. Please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you!
