I’m writing this post from the beach today so I thought it would be fun to share two kid friendly snack mixes that we’ve been enjoying this week! These summer snacks would be perfect for an upcoming Memorial Day get together or for relaxing by the pool with your kids this summer.
Homemade Chex Mix
- One box Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal (Brown Sugar or Maple flavored)
- 1/2 box corn Chex
- 1/2 box rice Chex
- 1 bag Rold Gold honey wheat braided twists, broken in half
- 1/2 bag stick pretzels
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tablespoon Lowry’s seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1-2 Tablespoons Tabasco {more or less depending on how spicy you want it}
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper {more or less depending on how spicy you want it}
Preheat oven to 250. Mix all dry ingredients in large bowl. Mix butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, Tobasco, and cayenne pepper and pour over dry mixture and toss to coat thoroughly. Spread in one layer on one to two cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 250 for one hour, tossing every 15 minutes. Let cool and store in Ziploc bag for up to two weeks.
Cheesy Snack Mix
- Box of Cheezits Crackers
- Bag of Cheddar Flavored Chex Mix
- Bag of Cheetos {or jalapeño cheddar Cheetos for more spice}
- Bag of Gardettos Original Snack mix
- 1 cup cashews (optional)
Combine all ingredients and store in Ziploc bag.
Hope you make one of these to enjoy with your kids sometime soon! And warning- they are addicting for mommies, too!
