I always thought I was one of the lucky ones — a mom whose kid would eat practically anything. And then, toddlerhood happened.
It started innocently enough, with a closer examination of the things he was putting in his mouth. But soon, he started refusing to eat anything that looked different.
Now, I make sure to keep our kitchen stocked with picky toddler staples: goldfish, chicken nuggets, and applesauce pouches. Those things go fast, though, don’t they? My toddler can down an applesauce pouch without blinking and eye, so I decided to try to make them last a little longer by freezing them into fun shapes.
These Easy Frozen Applesauce Toddler Snacks can be made with any silicone mold — I used a star-shaped ice cube tray I picked up from the Dollar Spot at Target last summer.

Fill each mold with applesauce, then freeze overnight. Remove from mold when ready to serve.
You could even freeze them in drops on parchment paper for a bite-sized snack.
This got me thinking — what other things would made fun freezer snacks? Turns out, there are lots of great ideas!
- Frozen Yogurt Dots — I love these bright, colorful dots, and I’m sure kiddos will love them, too! These were made using Greek yogurt sweetened with Agave Nectar, so they’re super healthy, too.
- Frozen Banana Pops — Bite-sized bananas dipped in chocolate and covered with sprinkles — what’s not to love? Even my picky toddler would like these!
- Watermelon Pops — Just cut shapes of out watermelon slices and add a popsicle stick. These would be delicious on a hot summer day!
- Fruity Yogurt Snacks — Cover some strawberries in Greek yogurt and freeze them. Yummy!
- Frozen Blueberries and Almond Milk — Mix the two ingredients to make a yummy slushy treat!
You are seriously brilliant, I would have never thought of this and will definitely be doing so! With summer right around the corner it will be a go to snack I’m sure.
