July 1 :: The North Dallas Toy Show will be at the Dallas Events Center (in Farmers Branch, mysteriously) from 9am to 3pm today. Vintage toys and collectibles, mostly of the geeky variety – think Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Transformers, Stark Trek. Over 70 vendor tables to check out! Admission is $2 for ages 12 and up.
July 1, 8 :: The Dallas Zoo wraps up their Safari Nights Concert Series this month. These are the last two Saturdays for you to catch live music and all sorts of interactive animal activities and demonstrations. Food and drinks (including beer/wine) available for purchase. July 6 :: The first Thursday of each month is JumpstART Stories and Art at the Irving Events Center. This month’s theme is “On the Beach,” which means fun stories and crafts inspired by the seashore. 10am, designed for ages 2 and up. Free!
July 7 :: The Dallas Museum of Art hosts Toddler Art: Dress Up! today from 11am to 12pm. July 7-9 :: This one’s for the bigger kids. Have we heard of Texicon before? I confess, I’m not in the demographic, but I know many are INTO IT. Texicon is a mega gaming convention featuring miniatures, RPGs, and board games. You can play old faves or learn to play new games in an open and relaxed, family-friendly environment. Check here for more deets, including ticket pricing, which starts at $20 and varies based on multi-day, age, etc.
July 7, 14, 21, 28 :: We mentioned this in an older Guide, but it bears repeating, especially since kids can stay up a bit later in the summer: It’ll Do Club hosts Disco Kids from 6-9:30pm every Friday. This is a kids-only night for bustin’ moves on the dance floor. $5 cover for kids, parents get in free!

July 8 :: One of my top summer chill dreams is to float in a pool while watching a movie. Races and games before the show. Admission $5.
