Hurray! We officially survived Winter…if you’d even call that a Winter…but nonetheless, Spring is here! Thankfully Dallas does Spring really well, so we’ve got a list of some unique family-friendly events you’ll want to know about as you head outside to enjoy the weather before summer hits.
The Guide below is just a glimpse at some of the more interesting events happening around the city to help you plan your month of April. All April long:: Calling all LEGO maniacs! LEGOLAND Discovery Center kicks off a full year of fun with the debut of LEGO® Star Wars™ MINILAND Model Display today. Each display will recreate favorite scenes in Star Wars™ Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Fans will marvel at the replicas of a Gladiator-style battle between Jedi and Geonosians on Geonosis, Jango Fett Clones lining up on Kamino, Jango Fett battling Anakin Skywalker featuring Slave Ship 1 and Boba Fett, plus many more.
April 1-10:: You know Spring has officially sprung when Dallas Blooms! comes to the Dallas Arboretum. This seasonal event runs through April 10th and hosts Sunday storytimes, Mommy & Me Mondays, Tiny Tot Tuesdays, and more all month long. With over 500,000 blooms, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect spot for a weekday picnic or weekend photo op.
April 1-10 :: Thomas the Tank Engine is rolling into the station with the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Tickets begin at $17 and go fast!
April 2 :: Yes! Your child does belong in an art museum…and this post proves it! Give it a try and bring them to the Nasher Sculpture Garden for FREE with Target First Saturdays for family programming from 10am-2pm and free admission all day! This month’s theme: Growth
April 2 :: Children in 2-5th grades can become an archaeologist at University of Texas at Dallas with “Dig it!” Spend the morning digging in dirt to find rocks and fossils from around the world.
April 2 :: Can’t make it to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival? KidFest at Traders Village is the next best thing! Medieval characters, entertainers, and a Magic act — and it’s free!
April 7 :: There’s not a better place to enjoy Spring than at Texas Discovery Gardens for Stories and More! Read a book, enjoy themed snacks and activities, and stay for the noon butterfly release in the Butterfly House. Begins at 11am; tickets are $8/child and regular admission for adults.
April 9-30:: Just south of the Dallas metroplex, the Scarborough Renaissance Festival kicks off in April and runs through May 30th. Curious what there is for kids? Check out our post!
April 9 :: Spend the day outdoors eating amazing food and listening to music at Frisco StrEATs Gourmet Food Truck and Music Festival in Downtown Frisco.
April 13 :: Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park presents their monthly storytime for preschoolers Barnyard Buddies. This month’s theme: April Showers
April 15 :: Don’t miss the Bluebonnets! The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival is a Free event in Ennis from 6-9pm. Walk through the bluebonnets and enjoy a fun festival for the whole family.
April 15-30 :: Dallas Children’s Theater has brought back Balloonacy – a play perfect for ages 2+. This 1 hour performance is one you won’t want to miss!
April 16 :: The Dallas Opera Family Season is one way to introduce your children to the arts. Join them for The Billy Goats Gruff at Winspear Opera House. Tickets start at $5.
April 21 :: Get out and explore Nature at the Trinity River Audubon Center. The Third Thursday of every month includes FREE admission.
April 22 :: Come learn about how families can do their part in protecting the environment at Fair Park’s Earth Day Texas. This is a free event and open to families of all ages.
April 23 :: Enjoy 14 local neighborhood representatives and 50+ local vendors all for Kwestival at Klyde Warren Park — a pop-up event to experience what makes each neighborhood unique!
April 30 :: Are you a new and/or expecting mom? Join Dallas Moms Blog for Bloom: A New & Expectant Mom event at Texas Scottish Rite for Children. Learn important information about your first year of motherhood, listen to guest speakers, win giveaways, and enjoy a light Brunch on us & Costco! Tickets coming soon to Dallas Moms Blog!
