Recently I had the privilege of accompanying a friend to the Frontiers of Flight Museum that is right next to Love Field Airport. She is a member there so we were both able to get in with our little boys, without paying admission…score!
We were both uncomfortably pregnant and our goal was to wear out our boys for a goooood loooong nap. Our boys did lots of exploring, climbing, and playing; making it a very successful trip.
One great thing about this museum is that it’s good for such a broad range of ages. A 1 year old can go and just enjoy walking around, looking at the air-crafts, and playing in the awesome play area. Similarly, a 5 year old can go and actually enjoy learning about and exploring all the exhibits, climbing up and around the planes, and of course enjoying the play area.
The play area is wonderful. It is large, not crowded at all, and right across the way is a snack bar- perfect for lunch time. It’s nice, open, and big, so it’s easy to take a seat and watch the kids run around and play. There is even a little auditorium that runs videos for kids to watch. This makes it a perfect indoor play place for those cold winter days and hot summer months.
Obviously, this is a perfect outing for a little one who loves all things planes, helicopters, and space ships! It’s not a big museum, so it’s not too overwhelming for kids, but there is plenty to see and explore. Apparently it is never crowded, so it’s easy to let your kids lead the roaming while you stay near to supervise. Being right next to the airport to watch all the big planes fly over is an added bonus on your way out!
Admission for adults is $8, and kids under 3 are free! Children over 3 are $5.
I have also heard this is a great place for birthday parties.
