It’s Saturday afternoon, kid extracurriculars are done for the day, and you and the family want to get out and enjoy the amazing weather. Where can you go so both parents and kids will enjoy themselves and all have a great time? How about checking out one of the many family-friendly craft breweries here in the North Texas area? Here are a couple of my faves!
Family-Friendly Craft Breweries in North Texas
Peticolas
First up, try Peticolas Brewing Company, located in the Dallas Design District. Michael and Melissa Peticolas started the brewery years ago after Michael worked as a lawyer. Michael and Melissa’s 3 kids are often seen at the brewery and seen in pictures wearing Peticolas attire. Boasting a fairly new taproom and multiple award-winning beers, Peticolas has made its way to being one of the best and first craft breweries to blow up in the Dallas area.
Inside, families will find plenty of open space to play one of the many board games available in the taproom. In the grain room, you’ll find even more space to play games with the kids while you enjoy a yummy beer on tap. Upstairs, you will find games like foosball, shuffleboard, ring toss, and—my kids’ favorite—ping pong.
I talked to Michael this week and let him know I was featuring PBC, and he shared these thoughts with me:
Family is what it’s all about and embedded into our brand. Even our logo subtly references our own family of 5 – use of the 5 sided pentagon represents the 5 members of our family and the stacked “2010” within the pentagon is a nod to each of us (the “2 for me and my wife, Melissa, “1” for our first kiddo, and a “0” for each twin that followed).
Since opening up our brewery, we always made an effort to make it fun for our own kids and as a result, kids in general. We want kids to have as much fun as parents do while at our place. Our approach is not to act as if we are in the beer industry, but instead the entertainment industry. We want to deliver an experience – not just to those enjoying beers, but to the whole family playing games, popping back dollar sodas, and spending time together.
We might be a bit biased about this award-winning brewery; we got married there!

Intrinsic Brewing
Next up, you have to take the family to the downtown Garland square and try out Cary’s place, Intrinsic Brewing. Cary and his wife Molly started Intrinsic in 2015 with help from all of their family. Not only do they have 15 beers of their own featuring IPA’s and sours, but they also have canned beers and seltzers/sangrias.
Your family will love this place because of the food. My kids love going and having the brisket, sausage, and my favorite, the nachos—not to mention the amazing sides. You can choose from beans, corn fritters, jalapeno cream corn, and coleslaw, just to name a few. Once you grab your drinks and food, head on out to the patio. The patio features games, plenty of space for the kids, and if you’re lucky, live music!
I spoke to Cary this week and he said:
My wife Molly & I just updated our 2400 sq. ft. patio and are including some games as well as the many board games we have inside. The park across the street is also kid-friendly with outdoor foosball, ping pong, corn hole, a large green space, and shaded seating. Alongside BBQ, we have a bar menu featuring things like chicharrones, brisket nachos, and flatbreads.
Craft beer is about quality, BBQ is about family, and Intrinsic is about both. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday, and pro-tip: try us for Sunday Brunch 11-2 for a whole new menu.
We love this place and visit often. They even catered our wedding!
Revolver Brewing
Lastly, why not plan a day trip with the family and visit Revolver Brewing in Granbury, TX. This brewery was started by father and son, Ron and Rhett Keisler and is about 35 minutes outside of Ft. Worth. Featuring 10+ beers and food trucks every weekend, this place is a must see.
The grounds of Revolver are made for you and your family to explore and play. Corn hole, tables with umbrellas, and a specialty children’s area will have you in awe of this space. Picnic tables and chairs are an option but you are also encouraged to bring your own. The day we visited, there was an amazing band out front and the place was packed!
Breweries are keeping up with families and realizing that family time doesn’t have to end to enjoy a craft beer and a tasty snack. This type of mindset builds loyalty for patrons and keeps them coming back!
