Summer Camp Pro Tip: The good camps fill up FAST. But if you register early, you can often get a discount. And having your kids’ summer schedules handled well in advance? I could be wrong, but I believe that’s one way to get nominated for Mother of the Year.
I’m fresh off a week of serious research into local spring break camps, so I feel particularly educated on what’s out there and what’s good. The Westwood School Summer Camp is the kind of camp your kids will be excited to attend. Plus, since it’s run by the school, there’s a priority on engaging young minds; kids will learn while they’re having fun. Total bonus.
I have to be honest, the level of organization and attention to detail on the brochure ALONE, puts Westwood Summer Camps miles above the fray. Every question I normally ask of a camp has already been addressed on there. They’re pros, which always gives me confidence. SEE “YOUR SUMMER TO SHINE” BROCHURE HERE.
The Basics:
• Weekly summer day camps crafted to boost your child’s creativity, confidence, and talent.
• Mix things up with a different theme each week from June through August.
• For kids from Pre-K – 6th grade. Each session is tailored by age.
• 9am-3pm with Extended Care available. Kids can arrive as early as 7:30am for no extra fee.
• Early bird discount of $50 if you register by May 1.
The Themes:
Cooking, art, mad science, space exploration and astronomy, camping, LEGO engineering… There’s something for everyone at Westwood Summer Camps. As you read at each week’s description on the brochure you can really see how they combine education and FUN.
Check out what they have planned for the week of June 17-21, for example:
KID NATION Create an entire town together with other kids! Build & decorate your own cardboard “house.” Then, team with others to create laws, find jobs, & run your own businesses.
Or the week of July 15-19:
STAR IN THE SHOW Produce a theater performance for family & friends! Learn to create costumes, write scripts & build sets. Enjoy a show from a local theater group.
Every week they’ll bring in a special guest. And Fridays are Pizza & Splash Day, so campers can have some fun in the sun!
If this sounds like what you’re looking for, head to The Westwood School site for ALL the details, including registration forms and policies.
Oh! Almost forgot. They offer gift certificates for parents & grandparents who want to give the gift of summer camp for special occasions. Cute idea, right??
