A Rockin’ Railroad Time at Kidville

Trains, bubbles and a setting that takes even the most shy child out of their shell – what more could a mom ask for?

With three girls under the age of 7 it’s very important that my girls get to spend individual time with me. At the same time, however, I like to reinforce both the importance of family and the importance of having fun with their siblings. Thus, when I signed my two younger girls up for classes at Kidville Dallas my first thought was that instead of putting them in separate classes I would try to put them in a class they could enjoy together.

But what class would be great for both a 2 year old and a 5 year old? Rockin’ Railroad of course!

I’ll be honest, I was pretty worried about my littlest introvert before my first visit. I knew from a previous playdate at Kidville that my girls are in love with the Kidville play village, but my youngest daughter is very very VERY shy. What she does love, however, is live music and dancing, so I kept my hopes up. (My 5 year old just loves time with Mom.)

Without giving away too many spoilers, I will give you the lowdown on mine and my kids’ Rockin’ Railroad experience and love.

1. A live band. Dancing, singing, guitars, keyboard and drums – all experienced live before your children’s very own eyes! This is guaranteed to make even the most bashful child do this (after only 2 classes):

2. Playtime with real musical instruments. From using bongo drums to practicing rhythm to playing with mini maracas – the things they pull out of their “special box” always fill my girls with excitement.

Even I had fun playing with the triangles!

3. A consistent staff that is fabulous with kids. The first week my little 2 year old simply refused to take off her shoes for class. She also refused to stand up, walk around, or do pretty much anything else until the beloved musical instruments were introduced. The unflappable staff, which we see every week, were patient, supportive and gentle. By week three she would run to Ms. Martha and this was what we had:

4.  Bubble time! Bubbles, bubbles, everywhere. Need I say more?

Trust me - kids are NEVER too old for bubbles

All in all I couldn’t be happier with our classes at Kidville. My two year old has a fantastic time dancing and getting introduced to both musical concepts and letters. My five year old pays close attention to the rhythm lessons and loves yelling out the sounds of the letters she has become familiar with. The best part for me? Time with my girls where I get to participate in their fun and see them laugh, dance, and interact happily with each other.
