As a mom to 2 little girls, I feel like each year gets busier and busier. To-do lists get longer and the kids’ needs change with each calendar page. It’s hard to keep up! Anyone with me?
That’s why getting in a groove and finding tricks to help make mom life easier is SO helpful and important.
Here are a few I’ve learned over the years:
MEALTIME HACKS
Quick & Easy Scrambled Egg Breakfast
I learned this tip from a fellow blogger mom. Did you know you can make a scrambled egg in the microwave in under a minute? Here’s how:
Crack an egg into a coffee mug. Scramble with a fork. Heat in the microwave 20 seconds at a time scrambling until fluffy. Voila! You can even add cheese, veggies, or meat to it if you want. Super easy for a busy morning. (And no dirty pan!)
Picky Eaters?
Try this cool idea from fellow contributor Rory.
Healthy Dessert
Freeze little cups of yogurt and serve as “ice cream” after dinner. You can even let your littles add fruit or sprinkles if you want to get fancy!
ORGANIZATIONAL TIPS
Sheet Storage
2020 is the year you’re going to learn how to fold a fitted sheet! Check Pinterest for an easy guide. Then, when your sheets are perfectly folded store them all in one of the pillowcases. Genius, right?
Medicine Bottle Tracker
When my kids are sick, I feel like my already fleeing brain cells are on life support! Keeping track of how many doses of antibiotics I’ve administered can be too much. I started drawing a little tracker in sharpie on the medicine bottle. This way I can just check off each time I give my girls a dose of meds.
ON-THE-GO TRICKS
Play Date Pack
Have you ever been out and about when your child’s friend calls for a spontaneous play date? Splash pad, picnic in the park, or indoor playground? No matter the location be prepared by keeping a play date pack in the car so you won’t have to head home to pick up the necessary goods first. I keep a bag in my car with extra socks for indoor play, splash pad/pool essentials like a life vest and swimsuit and a picnic blanket, change of clothes, etc. It’s so helpful, especially in the summer, to be prepared for any occasion. You can customize it however you like. I just love that it keeps all those extra things out of the diaper bag, yet I’m always still prepared!
Diaper Duty
Another thing I always keep in the car is a little backup diaper kit for unexpected blowouts. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to refill the diapers in my diaper bag. That’s why I have a backup kit in the car with diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes just in case. Every time my girl sizes up in diapers I update the car diaper kit so we’re always prepared!
Snack Time
Come up with an on-the-go snack system that works for you. Personally, I like filling a bento box with goldfish, fruit, veggies, and ranch before leaving the house. That way I have snacks ready in case of a hangry emergency.
These are amazing! Can’t wait to try some of them – thank you for sharing, Kelly!
