I have always loved getting facials (and other spa treatments). One aspect of facials I have never particularly enjoyed was when the esthetician would use that metal tool to squeeze out any imperfections. It hurt! And a lot of times it would cause breakouts or further irritation on my skin. I would joke with my husband that I wished there was something that could work like a vacuum on your skin and would just suck out all the imperfections leaving me with fresh and clear skin.
Well, it turns out, something like that does exist. Only its so much more than just removing imperfections. Its called a HydraFacial and the treatment works by extracting the impurities damaging our skin and replenishing beneficial elements that protect and strengthen it. The treatment is really soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective. Immediate results? No downtime? Yes, please.
When I arrived at the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics I was greeted by my esthetician, Charlene, for a pre-procedure consultation. We discussed my skin type, skin care regimen and my biggest areas of concern. Then she showed me the coolest machine I have ever seen, the HydraFacial machine. She explained to me step by step how it would work and what it would do for my skin. I could not wait to try it out.
Once I got changed, I laid down on the spa table where she cleansed my skin, put a mask on and left the room for me to relax for about 10 minutes. Those were the most relaxing 10 minutes I have had to myself all summer.
The machine itself works by merging soothing spa therapies with advanced medical technology to achieve instant and lasting results.
The best way I can describe it is it felt like a skin vacuum or even a water-microdermabrasion. Some past facials have had an uncomfortable or painful extraction process. Not the HydraFacial treatment. It was not painful or uncomfortable at all and that little magic wand did what she promised – my skin was so fresh, smooth and clear afterwards.
Once my treatment was over, we discussed recommendations for a post-treatment regimen. Charlene handed me skincare samples and reminded me to always protect my skin with a good sunscreen.
Here we are a few weeks after the treatment and my skin is still quite clear and smooth. I am a make-up every day girl but since the HydraFacial I have switched over to just a tinted sunscreen and a light dusting of powder. She recommended a HydraFacial once a month to maintain skin health and results. 30 minutes, once a month, that’s it. My skin looks amazing and it feels great, too.
