The Dallas Moms Blog spent the month of June celebrating dads and showcasing their perspective on parenthood. The modern-day dad seems excited and ready to take on the ups and downs of parenting. I am blessed by one such dad…my husband.
One thing that he enjoys doing with our kids is going on a “Dad date”. Dad dates consist of a fun activity with just him. My husband and kids come back more bonded, messy, and full of silly stories.
Here are ten Dad date ideas for your family:
Lowes Build and Grow Clinics
These clinics are an hour-long on Saturday mornings twice a month. Your child and dad can spend an hour building a wooden craft together. Home Depot also has a similar clinic available.
Top Golf
My husband has taken our kids to Top Golf on many occasions. He gets to hit a few balls and shape our kids into future PGA stars. Win-win! There are three Top Golf locations in Allen, the Colony, and Dallas.
Bahama Bucks
Bahama Bucks offers a variety of shaved ice flavors, smoothies, and coffee drinks. There are twelve different locations spread across DFW.
Bug Hunting
Dad can take the kids to White Rock Lake or a nearby park to hunt for bugs. Dad can grab a bug cage and shovel from the dollar area at Target and head out on an adventure.
Bowling
Dad and the kids can beat the summer heat and go to Main Event for a game of bowling and arcade play.
Central Market
Dad and the kids can grab lunch and then have a picnic out by the playground.
Adventure Landing
Adventure Landing features mini golf, an arcade, batting cages, and go-carts. It is located on Coit Rd. just south of HWY 190.
Young Chefs Academy
This is a “Dad date” for those who love to grill and cook at home. Young Chefs Academy offers a class called KinderCooks designed for children ages 3-5.
Watch the Dallas Stars Practice
Families can go watch the Dallas Stars practice in Frisco free. You can view the practice schedule on the Dallas Stars website.
The Frontiers of Flight Museum
This museum is located next to Love Field Airport and features several airplanes and an indoor playground. Dad can end the date watching planes take off from the nearby runways.
